Royal Caribbean has guaranteed loans for ‘Oasis of the Seas’, currently under construction. Oasis of the Seas will be one of the world largest cruise ships with a capacity of well over 5,000 passengers. The cruise ship is currently under construction in Finland. In an time when cruise ships have difficulties filling up their ships, and many great last minute deals are available, it might be no surprise that it took some effort for Royal Caribbean to arrange the financing. 3 European banks have guaranteed to commit to part of the more than one billion US$ needed. With in the end the Finnish government backing up the commitments to a large extend. With the all the additional cruise capacity coming online in the upcoming years, we believe great cruise deals might be around for a while.
